Teleportation is nothing new; she's a witch's familiar, she'd be pretty bad at her job if she couldn't even manage that much. Teleportation gone wrong is... eh, it's not great, but she was with Emma all throughout her training years, and she's used to the occasional mishap.
Teleportation to another world entirely, on the other hand, is just not good at all.
It's not like her world is particularly backwards when it comes to technology, but Shibuya is still off the charts in comparison; she dodges cars and hordes of people and hisses angrily when someone trods on her tail, and knows only one thing--she's gotta get out of the way and away from all of these people.
Which is why she's eventually going to find herself in a back alley on sore paws (probably admittedly not too far from the Airsoft shop, not that she knows it) and grumbling loudly to herself in a way that is...well, distinctly not cat-like, at least as far as language is concerned.]
Oooh, I can't believe those brutes! Don't they know to watch where they're walking? Honestly, how do they survive as a species, tromping around like that! Ooh, I just can't stand it!
[She should probably pipe down, most cats don't. You know. Talk. Though in her favor, she at least (mistakenly) thinks she's alone.]
amazing..........
Tragically, neither thing has happened, and he'd look like any other Tokyo alley cat if it wasn't for the collar around his neck. He's hungry. The one good thing is that it hasn't started raining - the skies look a bit threatening, and the forecast wasn't great, and he really, really doesn't want to get caught in the rain --
-- or get beaten up by other cats?! He's lost in his thoughts, doesn't hear her talking, and when he turns the corner and sees another cat, he freezes in his tracks. Well. "Another" cat. He's never actually had to interact with one -- he thought he heard some angry noises before, but he attributed it to the crowd, but she looks really mad! Morgana's ears flip back, and he looks nervous. ]
Uh, hold on...! N... nya? [ he tries meowing. Politely.
Surely the other cat will understand. ]
no subject
It's... another cat? Celine wasn't expecting company, though she supposes these back alleyways would be a great place for strays to make their home (she's not too concerned, as most cats don't generally have magic at their disposal, which tends to put her in a better place when dealing with them). She'll just keep on carrying on her merry way--
... Oh. The cat is trying to talk to her? And now that she takes a second glance, he's got a collar, doesn't he...? What's a housecat doing in a place like this?]
Friendly, aren't you... [It's just muttered, though, because it's not like she expects her new chatty friend to really understand--
And then she...tries to communicate as well.]
Er, I mean. Meow. [Celine, it doesn't work if you just say "meow".]
no subject
[ that might be the dumbest thing that's ever come out of his mouth, but it's totally genuine. Because, obviously, he's not a cat?? Morgana looks shocked, his entire back arching and making him moderately resemble a Halloween decoration.
Now that he really looks at her, she does look kind of different from other cats... But what does this mean?! ]
W... What are you?! [ he tries to sound tough. ]
no subject
Mona??? She's really not sure how to react to that; her tail flicks in minor irritation, mostly because that's probably the most confusing response she's ever heard.
a) This cat clearly can also talk.
b) This cat doesn't know he can also talk? That theory is still up in the air, admittedly, but she's working with few details and a concerned cat here.]
... I'm a cat, obviously. [Duh.] What else could I possibly be?
[She's got bad news for you, Mona.]
no subject
But... how are you talking?! [ a pause; Morgana suddenly shakes his head, realizing something else. ] And how can you understand me?! Normally, only those guys can...
[ wait. She's a talking cat. He... could be referred to as a talking cat. Currently. Could she be the same thing that he is? Maybe this is the clue he's been looking for. He's still taken off-guard, but he puts on a more serious face, or tries to. ]
... Are you from the Metaverse, too?
no subject
I'm talking the same way you're talking, kitty cat. [By using her words.] And I most certainly am not! Where I am from is none of your business.
[She's just pointlessly cagey that way, though...yeah, it's not the Metaverse.]
I must say, I didn't expect to find another, but... [A sigh.] Oh well. Who is your companion? The one you're watching over?
i keep thinking the metal thing in that icon is a cigarette she's smoking
[ this is so weird. So weird. Morgana squints at her, and not in that friendly cat-love sort of way. Why won't she tell him where she's from? What does she mean, "the same way?" Is she also a transformed human? That would be the most logical answer - or, at least, he tells himself it would be. Really, he's probably just leaping at the possibility that he isn't totally alone in his predicament.
Also, how does she know he has a companion like that...?! (At this point, Morgana doesn't know how eerily accurate her description truly is.) ]
What...? How did you know about him?! [ is she stalking him?! ] You're being really suspicious...!!
i'm cracking up YOU GOT HER, THE SMOKING CAT
At least he'll probably get some answers now, as she tsk's softly under her breath.]
Are you purposefully being stupid to annoy me? [Ugh!] All familiars have a companion to watch over. Everyone knows that.
[Get with the program, Morgana, where's your witch--
...Wait.]
... "Him"?
[Not..."her"?]
LISTEN THAT'S WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE
of course, being called stupid immediately ruffles his feathers beyond mild suspicion; the fur on his back stands up a little bit. How dare she! Wouldn't it be more stupid to just eagerly befriend some sketchy talking cat he met in an alleyway?!
That's what he would say to her if it wasn't for all the "familiar" business she keeps dropping into this conversation. It's enough to curb his anger a little bit. Because if she knows what she is... Maybe this is a chance for him to find out the truth about himself. ]
Yeah, him! What's so weird about that? And what's a familiar?
IT'S A BELL OKAY, A BELL!!
Which is an uncanny feeling.
(It's weird, though. He really does feel magical, somehow...)]
I'm a familiar. I thought that you were too, but I've certainly never heard of a male witch before.
[So that's!! Just weird!!]
sure.......
[ he sort of mumbles that, but he does say it out loud. On one hand, he feels the need to defend his dignity by acting tough and defending his territory here - he's gotta stay on the lookout for suspicious people! The Phantom Thieves' identities can't be compromised, and if someone finds out Akira has a talking cat, he'll definitely be suspicious to... whoever this "witch" is. Plus, if he backed down now after coming on so aggressively, he'd look like a total idiot. On the other hand... She's like him. But, unlike him, she clearly knows exactly who she is and what she's doing. There's no denying that she might have some serious clues as to where he came from - running into her might actually be an enormous stroke of luck.
Morgana makes an irritated grumble as he battles the two separate ideas in his head, nose wrinkling, until he finally bursts. ]
-- Gah! He's not a witch! He's a high school student! And I -- I'm not really a cat or a familiar or anything! That's the truth, okay?! I'm not even from this place...!
no subject
But she's also a little confused by Morgana stating so firmly that he's not... you know, a cat.
Her whiskers twitch, even as she looks him over, clearly puzzled. He looks like a cat to her.... but he sounds so certain.]
Well... it isn't as if I'm from this place either. [Sniff! She's not convinced.] Though I suppose that for now, I have no choice but to believe you.
[She curls her tail a little, contemplative.]
Still, it isn't as though just anyone ends up with a guide like you or I, you know? [Just a "high school student" her fuzzy ass, really.]
no subject
Her saying she's not from this place only convinces him more that she has answers of some kind - that she's like him. Not to mention she doesn't make fun of him. His ego is delicate. ]
"You or I" ...? So -- so you think I'm the same kind of creature as you, then? A "familiar?"
[ he sounds a little hopeful, especially coming after his bravado a moment ago. ]
no subject
[His 180 does surprise her a little, but his question makes it pretty clear what the problem is either way. She tilts her head, thoughtful.]
Amnesia, huh? That's rough. You don't know where you came from?
[It's the only real explanation to his question, after all; most familiars would know that they're a familiar.]
no subject
[ morgana, you fool, giving away secrets!! He shakes his little kitty head, then immediately tries to puff up again, standing as tall as he can. ]
You're the one who should be explaining herself! Just who are you, anyway?!
no subject
She just sits where she is, idly rubbing a paw over one ear.]
As I said--I'm a familiar. My name is Celine.
[Progress? Progress. She's apparently decided that Mona isn't a threat here.]
I don't know if you're like me or not; it's hard to say without seeing your ward for myself. Still, I don't envy you that task. Losing your memories sounds so bothersome.
no subject
[ by 'ward,' she must mean Akira. It sounds a lot cooler when she puts it that way, but he stands on more equal ground with him... He thinks. For the moment, he leaves aside the memory loss stuff and tries to concentrate on getting information. ]
In other words, if I took you to see him, you'd be able to tell?
no subject
Fine.
Fine!!]
A pleasure to meet you, Morgana. [She daintily licks a paw, and:] I could tell...something, at least.
[No promises on being able to tell what he is, but hey? It's something.]
no subject
In that case... You should help me by coming with me! And in return, I can help you.
[ he'd been waffling about this, but a) he already mentioned the Metaverse by accident earlier, and b) she's a talking cat - there's no way she's part of any villainous group of adults looking to bust them down here. And maybe, just a little, he's willing to overlook it if it means he'll get closer to finding out more about himself. ]
no subject
[She seems more amused than anything, though.
She's not sure he'll be able to help her, not really, but...if he wants to try, it can't hurt. In the meantime, while she's waiting for Emma to get her ass over here, she can at least try to poke her nose into what he is.
Not because she cares, naturally, but because she's curious.]
Fine then. I'll do what I can, while I've got the time.
no subject
[ despite his flailing and lameness from before, he seems to be trying his best to be serious, himself. His tail flicks a little bit, as if punctuating his point. ]
You said you're not from here or the Metaverse. In other words... You're something that shouldn't be here at all. I bet you want to get back home.
no subject
[A cat calling another (not)cat kitty is weird, but she's rolling with it.]
I'd like to get back to my own ward. She can't be trusted on her own, you know. Who knows what sorts of trouble she'd get up to without me to supervise her?
[not like she CARES but Emma might NEED HER and that could be terrible!!
A longsuffering sigh.]
no subject
It's not what we usually do, but I bet we can find her. In exchange, you can tell me what you know about "familiars." [ a pause. ] But don't call me that! I'm not a cat.
no subject
Alright, alright. [A cat-shrug, shoulderblades rising somewhat.] Morgana, then.
[Why is it that hard for you to use people's names, Celine.]
It's a deal, Morgana. I'll tell you what I know of familiars, and you can help me find my ward. It isn't terribly pressing--I'm sure I'll find her eventually--but I'm curious about your situation too.
