[ the touch is registered -- mejojo's tail stiffens, and he nearly flinches before allowing his posture to falter for a fleeting moment. it's an interlude, a temporary display of vulnerability.

we're both alive, he says. mejojo's eyes widen somewhat helplessly -- it wasn't a dream. he couldn't have gone mad. this is reality, an absolute truth. there is no other possibility, not one he'll willingly accept.

[ Strange. Really. Has Mejojo finally lost it? It's not like him to ramble about nonsense like this at all. Auger's not sure whether the feeling broiling inside of him is concern or disappointment, and he doesn't particularly care to find out. Whatever it is, if his brother's lost whatever remained of his sanity, that puts a lot of work on his plate, and none of it will be pleasant.

Perhaps fortunately, his comment about "having been here all this time" does pique Auger's interest. He flicks an ear. Because he hasn't.

He'd never spoken of it, because he wasn't interested in troubling his brother with a story that would sound completely insane - and because it didn't actually matter to their lives.
