I'd like a walk with you, Lupin. I want to learn as much as I can about the place you came from.
no subject
That's the spirit. All right! Then... this way should be fine.
[ Lupin seems like he's picking a direction to walk rather arbitrarily, but he at least sounds confident about it... as usual. He only takes a step or two away from her, though; he stops to bow just slightly towards her, holding out his hand with a flourish. ]
Your hand, my lady.
[ as always, his melodrama is mostly for show, but just genuine enough to be a little cheesy - especially at this point. ]
no subject
So of course there's no hesitation when she places her hand in his. ]
What's this way?
no subject
Heheh. You'll have to wait and see. But I think it'll be fun. [ a boyish grin. They're walking along the banks of the Seine on cobblestone path leading to the docks - no need to worry about passing cars. The only traffic is made up of a few other pedestrians wandering out as the evening sets in. Honestly, this is a bit of a gamble on his part, but Lupin likes to think that luck is on his side. ] Even if it isn't, there's a pretty good view of the Eiffel tower at the end of this, anyway. After the sun sets, the whole thing lights up.

[ Things she'd heard about, read about, had explained to her-- Cardia could commit it all to memory, but after having met Lupin and the others and having learned so much, finally able to grasp things in her own hands... there's really no comparison to being able to witness things for herself. From something as grandiose as the Eiffel tower to as seemingly simple as feeling the warmth from Lupin's fingers...
Cardia can't help but think that she'll always marvel over these moments, glancing over at the water as the slowly lowering sun sets it alight. She's quiet for a few seconds, before she looks back at Lupin and smiles. ]
I'd like to see that with you.
no subject
That's the one! Consider your wish granted - I'd like to see it with you, too. I'd say we could try going to the top, but it's usually pretty crowded.
[ of course, he could cut in line and cheat his way to the front, which is what he would do if he was by himself, but that wouldn't remove the other people from the picture entirely - they'd still be there in the lift with him and Cardia. Not romantic at all. He hums, thoughtful. ]
Maybe I can find a way to sneak us in later...
[ as they walk, the faint sound of music starts to become audible from somewhere ahead of them - a guitar, probably. ]

After having lived alone for so long, with Elaine's cheery voice for a short period surrounded by muffled, lonely silence-- music is perhaps one of Cardia's favorite things. It's a new way to fill the air with sound, and she glances up at Lupin briefly, before looking ahead once more, all of her poised to try and catch the song a little better.
... It's incredibly obvious. ]
no subject
... Shall we go investigate? [ he asks innocently, as if she'd say anything other than "yes." ]
no subject
She still actually looks a little dismayed to have been caught so easily. ]
Yes-- I'd like to... broaden my horizons.
[ YES, THIS IS EDUCATIONAL, IT'S NOT JUST THAT SHE LIKES THE MUSIC. ]
god i'm sorry this is this late
Would you, now? Well, let's see what we can do about that.
[ He has every intention of showing her as much of the world as he can. And a little hometown flavor certainly isn't a bad place to start when that hometown is Paris.
It's been a few years since he's been back here, but he did live here for most of his life, lurking in crowds and feeling the pulse of the city. He came to learn that certain things happen as regularly as if they were scheduled. And on a warm, clear evening with a lovely sunset like this, it's practically guaranteed that the city folk would come out to the banks of the Seine to enjoy themselves. In fact, that Lupin was counting on that being the case - and, as it turns out, Lupin is very rarely wrong. When they round the next bend, the source of the sound is clear: there's a large number of people spread out on the riverbank, on blankets or simply sitting on the grass, and about as many bottles of wine and little baskets of bread or cheese or dinner. Except for the people that aren't sitting at all. There are two men with guitars, playing light-hearted songs, and a good quarter of the gathering has left their seats to dance.
He looks over at Cardia and grins. ]
Have you ever danced before, Cardia?
no worries!
[ Aside from a few jubilant twirls from Impey every so often, she's never had a formal education in it. This, at least, she doesn't seem dismayed in, her attention mostly captured by all of the people simply enjoying the music-- seated and not, talking and dancing. ]
I've never had a reason to, but I've read about it.
[ ... of course she has. ]
no subject
I thought you might say that, [ he says, in his typical casual way. Of course she hasn't - she's spent most of her short life sitting in a single room, and he's been with her for a lot of the time when she wasn't doing that. Naturally, he knew that before he asked her. ] ... Do you want to try?
[ he doffs his hat at her, smiling. ]
no subject
[ She can't promise it's not a very good possibility. She's fairly certain she can't apply what she learned from Van Helsing about fighting to sharing a dance with another person. ]
no subject
[ maybe they should join in with the group, but -- nah, he'd rather keep her to himself over here for now, especially if she doesn't know what she's doing. No need to embarrass her. Lupin flips the hat he's holding in his hand casually, then sets it down, offering his hand to her anew. ]
Give me your hand, and I'll teach you.
no subject
I'm ready.
no subject
Now, put your other hand on my shoulder.
no subject
She nods, for now, lifting her hand to grasp his shoulder and focusing on his face. She doesn't really care what other people think, but for her own sake, it's easier to narrow her concentration like this. ]
