[ moe pair... What a happy smile, though! His heart flutters at its cuteness... ]
I'm sure that they have some you haven't! Especially from other cultures, you know... In your time period, I assume you mostly had European fairytales, but every culture has them. [ a nod! ] They're probably in the children's section, though...
[ It seems like a reasonably idea to her, and she nods, looking around curiously like that will suddenly tell her where this section is ]
That's a good idea... Is there another culture that has good ones? I really like stories about princesses and princes... [ She nods, then clings to Garry's arm and starts to drag him in an arbitrary direction ] Sleeping Beauty and Rapunzel are my favorites, you know. So things like that would be perfect.
[ uwah getting dragged by Diva...! He stumbles a bit in surprise, but he keeps up with her momentarily, too used to her clinginess by now to mind her hanging off his arm like that. If people assume the worst, well... it's not really 'the worst' if people think he's with such a beautiful woman. ]
Princesses and princes... I'm not so sure about that. It was a medieval thing, after all. Not that I'm an expert on the topic. Er, the children's books are that way, though, [ he says, gesturing in the opposite direction... ]
[ that face gets a warm little laugh out of him, and he bumps his shoulder against hers teasingly. ]
Of course, of course. It's all right. [ and he tugs her over this time, bringing her in the direction indicated.
While there are a lot of things that (he hopes) are far below the age range of two-hundred-year-old vampire, the nice thing is that children's books are organized in a much blunter way than normal books, and thus, all the fantasy and medieval ones are lumped together. ] Now, let's see... We should look for something a bit thicker...
[ She at least gets over her huffiness quickly, because the interest of the library is enough to put it at bay. She trails along behind Garry and peers over his shoulder as he looks. ]
Mm, not too hard though, because then you'll have to help.
Oh... Diva, can you not read well? [ he asks, sounding surprised, and turns to look at her a bit from where he's fingering through the titles on the shelf. ]
[ But her gaze doesn't turn to him, and she just keeps looking at the books with a pleasant, even smile. ]
Not really. Grigori only tutored me as long as he was around, and no one else really did after that, except for teaching me a new language or something, but that wasn't too hard.
[ It's sad, in a subtle way, and a way that she seemingly misses. Diva reaches out to pull a book of folklore from around the world from the shelf. ]
Oh, right! Here, this way - come with me. [ beckoning her along after him so they can go upstairs to the next floor; he doesn't want to leave her by herself. She'd be like a 200-year-old unattended child.
As he walks, though, he pauses, glancing back at her. ]
Actually... Would you want to read that while we're here at the library? There's a lot more space here, after all, and it shouldn't be too long... Plus, libraries are just so cozy!
[ he can hardly believe what he's hearing. Miss 'casually strips on a public network' Diva, embarrassed about being read to? Everyone's concerned about different things, he supposes. Still, he acquiesces without complaint, nodding at her as they go up the stairs. ] Mmm, we can do that. Are you shy about it? Not being able to read, that is.
[ wow excuse u she didn't strip she was already naked?! ]
A little... [ She shrugs, clearly just trying to play it off casually ] I'm know I'm not very smart, but that's not something I want just random people to know, you know? For how old I am, I should be smarter, but I'm not.
[ She laughs a little ] Well, that's why I'm beautiful, right? You can't be both, so I get the easier one!
Oh, don't say something like that! [ Garry huffs, glancing over his shoulder at her and putting a hand on his hip. ] You can be beautiful and smart! And don't put yourself down, either. You're not stupid, you just haven't gotten an education, and that's through no fault of yours, dear.
As a matter of fact, the fastest way to learn is to read more...! So you're already halfway there.
Well, most people clearly don't know you as well as I do, then! [ a little proudly, though he then adds in a more gentle voice: ] I know that you're capable of all sorts of wonderful things, Diva - you just weren't given the space to learn them all properly.
[ but they're coming up on the section he's looking for now, so he won't lavish her with any more sweet words. Instead, he makes a beeline for one shelf, holding a finger out as he searches along the titles for the one he's looking for. ]
[ She pauses at the end of the aisle for a moment, looking at Garry with a surprised, fond sort of smile, but she just ends up laughing a little. Diva closes the distance between them so that she can stand close, leaning her head affectionately on his arm. ]
You know, it's a good thing that we have this understanding as friends, Garry. If not and you kept saying things like that, I'd definitely fall for you.
[ Warmly: ] But I like being friends better anyways.
[ but that's not the case, now, is it? She's a vampire, and she has a lot of problems, and he knows he'd just make things worse for the both of them in the long run. So, as always, he does his best to ignore her suggestion, just smiling wryly and focusing on the books, instead. ]
Well, if you say things like that, then I'll fall for you. Hmmm... Ah, here! [ and he pulls out a pretty thick hardcover book - The Herring Jr. Heist, apparently. There's a picture of a horse on it. And an explosion... ?? ] There we go... Well, let's go find a place to sit down.
[ this book would be a legitimate thing to tease him about tbh ]
Oh, this? It's a series about the FBI trying to track down this thief who steals famous works of art! See, this painter here is known for his equestrian oil paintings, so that's probably what's going on... Well, I haven't read it, so I can't say for sure...
[ Garry is insecure and immediately sounds defensive. ] I-I swear, they're really good! Though... I can't say that I'm crazy about this cover. It's pretty strange and cheesy, isn't it?

I see... That's okay, then. Let Garry teach you from here on out! Reading's a delightful thing, after all. [ beat. ] Did you find one you like?
