[ So - rainforest, heavy on both the rain and forest components, humidity, and a distinct sense of unease. That appeared to be what we were dealing with here. Tidus was sorry to say it wasn't the first time something like this had happened to him, but at least he wasn't totally confused and clueless this time.

Well. All right, he was still pretty confused and generally clueless, but he did have the experience to keep from totally flipping out. For now, anyway.

First matter of business: find shelter, because it is incredibly uncomfortable to be standing around in the rain in this humidity. He was in and out of the water all the time, sure, but - call it a gut feeling: he needed to get out of here, and fast. It looked like luck was on his side when he came across a cave, which was undoubtedly dark and creepy, but probably dry. Except he is fairly certain he just heard some kind of weird noise, though he's not sure if it came from the cave or somewhere else. The rain made it hard to tell. ]

Uhh... Hey! Hello? Anyone in here?

And I asked that question first. [ Sorry, Tidus. He's also a nice guy once you...uh, get to know him. He thinks for a moment, tilting his head to the side while he glances at nothing in particular. ] Oh, wait - yes. "Tidus", was it? [ See, he was kind of paying attention... ]

You may call me Vilof. [ Despite looking terrible and less than royal, he has a tone that would suggest otherwise. ]

[ gosh, he replied to you princey!! Tidus nods, still looking less than happy about all of this. But hey, the people who found him first when he washed up in Baaj Temple punched his lights out, so maybe things could start turning up?

Yeah, as much as I could say that situation 'turned up.' ]

Vilof... You're not from around here, either, right?

Not that I know of. I have traveled quite a bit and never seen plants like these before. [ He was talking about the trees, but his nod toward the outside doesn't make that very specific. The prince makes a quiet "hmph", still holding a grudge against the awful weather and takes the crown off of his arm. ]

I do not remember how I got here. [ He talks while rubbing some dirt off the crown. ] Do you?

[ the... trees. Those didn't exactly strike him as weird, and a quick glance outside through the rain confirms that no, they're not weird at all, but - you know, Vilof was weird, so he supposed that was the case here. In any case, even if he was kind of a jerk, it was a huge relief to not be alone here; that had to increase his odds of not dying, right?

Not a clue. [ he sounds exasperated, like this is a pain in the butt more than a serious problem. ] Are you from Spira, then?

No, I have not heard of such a place. [ Now that Vilof was under some kind of cover, his tone was getting just a tinsy bit less demanding, but it was going to take a lot more than sitting in a cave to make Mr. Persnickety Pants here happy. ]

But that's an interesting answer. Leaning forward, he suddenly seems a lot more intrigued by what Vilof has to say - and maybe a little more nervous about the situation. ]

[ Yo, man. What's with all these weird names? Vilof figured Tidus must be from some far off kingdom he wasn't familiar with. Only one way to find out...]

No, I have not heard of that one either. Are these countries you are naming?

[ huh? ] Not countries, they're... [ he trails off, turning over this matter in his mind for a few seconds in silence. He wasn't from Spira or Zanarkand, nor was he from this place? Where the heck did this guy from? Or, perhaps more importantly, where the heck is Tidus now? ] That doesn't make any sense at all! Are you saying we're on another planet or something?
