closed - HAPPINESS AU TIME
[ imagine a world where Aguri didn't die, and Korosensei didn't have his body taken over by tentacles, and, somehow, everything worked out just fine, and the two of them are now both teachers of Class 3-E. Somehow. The details aren't important, but the results are!
Of course, he's nothing more than an assistant teacher, seeing as he's a rookie teaching for the first time. But he has the best of mentors to learn from, and a pretty impressive treasure trove of knowledge, to boot. Just as she predicted, he took to teaching like a fish to water - and the change in his personality has been remarkable. Both the students and Aguri herself have really made him open up and become more human than he's probably ever been in his life. Even without the tentacles to help him this time.
It's a pleasant way of life he's never been able to enjoy until now; living simply, connecting with others, seeing and being seen. He'd spent his entire life believing that death was his only skill - now, he's discovering that he has many more that he'd merely been misusing. All of it is thanks to her. The students, too, in part, but her, especially. She was the one that reached out, pulled him from the darkness, and took him into her own life. He's grateful to her from the bottom of his heart, and he doubts that anything he does can ever properly display the depths of his gratitude to her.
But he tries. Every day, it's on his mind - or, perhaps, she's on his mind, according to the jeers of their students. Jeers he can easily laugh off, but which fluster him a little bit more than he expected them to, most likely because there's a sizeable grain of truth in them. If they knew he was going to take her out to lunch on their day off, he can only imagine what they'd be saying... Not that it's a date, of course. She's engaged. Not a date at all.
Nonetheless, he finds himself waiting at the train station for her with a bit of trepidation. That might just be because he's afraid of what she might be wearing today, though. (He has to be seen with her...) ]

much blushy, such tentacle, wow
[ Which is so far from true, because Aguri still remains an open book, according to her sister and their students. She'd been clued in more than once that she'd been caught watching her fellow teacher with a fondness and pride beyond what other teachers tended to show their colleagues. But other teachers hadn't seen how he'd started and how much he'd flourished since then. Other teachers didn't see his smile and know there was a time when it hadn't been as sincere as it had looked.
She thinks of him more than she should, and her cheeks flush warmer at the thought. They probably both look pretty ridiculous right now, honestly. ]
UGH I'M ALIVE!!!!!
No, not at all, [ he responds without hesitation, recovering quickly. ] You just surprise me sometimes. That's hardly a bad thing.
[ he beckons her after him as they board. As it turns out, taking a trip out somewhere for lunch on a weekend is a pretty popular idea in Japan... the seats are packed almost full, and it's immediately obvious that finding two consecutive spots isn't going to happen. He sighs, settling for holding onto one of the hanging straps instead. ] Looks like we'll be packed in today...
no subject
[ If he thought Aguri was going to sit down, she's grossly mistaken. Other people might need that seat more! And this is solidarity, so she's also reaching up to grab a strap-- and swaying against him when the train starts to move.
... Yes, this was a good idea (at the time). ]
no subject
[ honestly, he's not exactly sure how old he is, but that's beside the point?! He smiles down at her in his usual way as she takes the spot next to him. It might be more "gentlemanly" (or whatever) to tell her to take a seat while he stands, but, frankly, he thinks she can make her own decisions.
He's not about to complain about their proximity, either. Half of him feels like he should put an arm around her waist right now, but the tentacles haven't made him lose all his self-restraint. That'd be inappropriate. Definitely. ]
You know, I haven't even told you where we're going, Yukimura-sensei.
no subject
You haven't. But I kind of like looking forward to a surprise, so I don't mind at all. It's better to go into things without expectations so everything that happens is an adventure, isn't it?
no subject
Hahaha. As usual, you're not worried about me at all. [ and he doesn't mean 'worried about his wellbeing' - he means 'worried about the fact that he used to be the world's best professional murderer.' ] Well, I'm glad that you're like that, in the end. You're the travel-loving type, too, then?
no subject
I am, but I don't usually get the chance to travel... [ Her fiancee keeps her on a short leash, and she has her teaching work to think of. ] Which means it's even more exciting when I can.
no subject
Ah... [ right, yes. She wouldn't. She's dedicated to her job. And stuck here, more or less. She doesn't have to voice the reasons for him to guess them. Of course, he's been all over the world by now. Funny - he never considered it a good thing until after he started talking to her. He never considered it at all, actually. ] In that case, this works out perfectly. Not that we can go anywhere very exotic on a train in Japan... It's a shame. Spain is nice this time of year.
no subject
[ She may never get a chance to go, but she certainly wouldn't mind hearing about it. ]
no subject
[ is he flirting or just being honest?? it is a mystery.
The train continues on its way, picking up more and more people as it goes - a lot more people, actually. If it hadn't been standing room only before, it sure is now. People start squeezing into the carriage, and before long, they're pretty closed in. ]
Ergh... Sorry. I forgot that how busy this line gets at this time of day. [ looking vaguely guilty. ] Just a little longer.
no subject
[ Except she keeps getting pushed closer to him, and she does have to squeeze in a bit before she gets stepped on or bumped into. Really, people sure are frantic today... ]
no subject
After a half-second of hovering hesitation, he casually (or, at least, an attempt at casual) moves his free hand to her side, pulling her in towards himself more. Not super intimately or anything. Just a little. You know. Friends. Friendly teachers being friends. ]
Let's get you out of traffic a little, sensei. [ then, irked, in that particular quiet shinigami way: ] People these days. Don't they have any manners?
no subject
[ She says, so lightly, when it's not as though her heart isn't hammering in her chest just because he pulled her closer. Only because he's trying to keep her safe, she chides herself. This has no deeper meaning. She's engaged. ]
no subject
That's no reason to shove others around. That kind of carelessness can get you killed. [ a beat. ] ... Well, maybe not anymore.
[ he's used to thinking like an assassin, and it's taking him a while to stop... it's especially hard to focus when he's got her in one arm. How nice. He wonders if her fiance ever holds her at all - then, almost just as quickly, scolds himself for thinking about something like that. Not his business. He just has to play it cool, and maybe partially hope that she'll accidentally push her glorious chest into his arm or something......... i mean of course he isn't ]
... Anyway, about lunch. What do you think of picnics, Yukimura-sensei? I admit, I'm not too fond of sitting in restaraunts.
[ it still feels weird not being in disguise and hanging out in a place like that. ]
no subject
I love them! There's something about eating outside that really makes the food taste better.
[ And it's not uncomfortable silence, broken only by the clinking of utensils on tableware, because her fiancee only chose to dine in the finest of restaurants. ]
no subject
Really? Then we agree. In that case, let's pick something up. I know a nice place we can go...
[ this not-a-date is quickly growing more and more date-like, but he keeps opening his mouth before he can stop himself. Damn tentacles!! ]
There's a good view. If you don't mind me monopolizing your time, that is.
no subject
If I minded, I don't think I would have agreed to spend my day off with you. I'm more than happy to be monopolized for something like this.
... F-for a picnic, I mean! [ A NICE PLATONIC PICNIC. ]
no subject
Ha. You're going to give me a big head if you say things like that. [ he loves it, though. playfully, his hand gives her side a light squeeze. ] I'll be sure to take advantage of your kindness, then. I'll pay for your meal with my meager teacher's salary in return.
[ teaching sure doesn't pay the bills like murder used to....... but he doesn't mind ]
no subject
[ Mostly earnest, but there's still a faint bit of humor there. Even as her cheeks grow redder, no, that was just a squeeze between friends!! ]
I'll try not to eat too much. [ But it all goes to her chest, anyway, which he should prefer-- ]
no subject
[ sort of the truth, though... he feels like he needs to make up for how he's lived up until now by doing more good deeds. Or maybe he just wants to dote on her a little. Both, probably. The blush on her face deepening doesn't go unnoticed, though - after a half-second's pause and a vague look of surprise, he's quick to remove his hand, glancing away from her. He's overstepping his boundaries again. ]
Here's our stop. Let's go. [ but he keeps his light smile on, as usual, and slips through the crowd like a shadow, expecting her to follow - of course, he's keeping an eye on the other passengers, too, so they better not try anything. ] Bento or burgers, by the way?
no subject
And yet, here she is smiling. ]
Burgers! I can do a bento any day.
no subject
I guess that's true. They're still exciting for a foreigner like me. [ he comments lightly, waiting for her to catch up with him just outside the doors. ] It's settled, then. Good thing for me you're easy to please.
no subject
[ For the record. But she'll straighten up after a minute and link arms with him. ] Now then, let's go!
no subject
[ uhHH she's linking arms with him, this was unexpected?! he was just stopping himself from getting too affectionate with her, dammit! He stutters uncharacteristically in surprise - which also probably means there's no way he's getting out of this without her noticing he's flustered. Whatever sharp line he had prepared in response is immediately fumbled and dropped. ]
Yukimura-san... [ he is indeed going, walking forward as casually as he can with the lovely woman who saved his life on one arm, but he's pointedly keeping his eyes forward. There may or may be a faint blush on his cheeks this time. ] ... I appreciate the concern, but I don't think we'll get separated that easily.
[ He doesn't actually mind. Far from it. But he can't accept it... ]
no subject
[ And it's kind of endearing to see this former assassin so incredibly flustered, to be honest. Normally, Aguri would be the one blushing and stammering (and maybe she's still a faint pink), but the tables have turned! ]
